As one of the first members of the Organization for Economic Co- operation and Development (OECD), Japan has achieved a society that is able to provide all of the basic necessities of food, clothing and shelter for its people. There is no other nation that can show Japan where to go next. We must decide for ourselves what model of society we want to aim for in our future. I would like to call this model of a future society the “platinum society”.
